Anna Kendrick, not content with proving her tune-carrying abilities in the Pitch Perfect franchise and Into the Woods, is starring in another big screen musical: The Last Five Years.
Richard LaGravenese is responsible for this big screen adaptation of the off-Broadway hit.
In it, we follow Kendrick’s struggling actress as she recalls her failed relationship with an aspiring novelist.
Meanwhile, that novelist, played by Jeremy Jordan, lives out their relationship in chronological order. It’s not as complicated as it sounds.
The stage production utilisied a unique storytelling technique, only having our two leads meet up once, in “the middle.” How the film plans on tackling this narrative device is yet to be seen.
Kendrick and Jordan are both Tony nominees, as the trailer reminds us, but only Kendrick has an Oscar nomination too, so take that Jordan.
The Last Five Years arrives in cinemas February 2015.
